Vegas Style at Aria Resort Hotel

When you feel like a quick getaway, there’s no place like Las Vegas. The perfect spot for a quick weekend trip with lots to do ’round the clock from lounging by the pool to hitting the casinos! I discovered one place where you can do it all without ever leaving your hotel: the gorgeous Aria at City Center. I put together some Vegas-inspired outfits to experience the hotel’s many places for fun. Click the images to shop* each item.

At the Casino

First order of business in Vegas is to hit the casino, especially one as lovely as the Aria’s Deuce Lounge. You’ll fit right in with playing card skinny pants, a casual white top, red shoes made for walking, and sparkly purse with dangling dice charm.

Poolside

Vegas is the perfect place to show off your poolside style with a retro leopard print swimsuit and ironic Elvis tote bag to carry your sunbathing essentials. Then strut over in your stylish sandals to the Aria’s gorgeous Liquid Pool and Lounge.

Nightclub Look

The Aria’s Haze nightclub was made for dancing the night away and you’ll look ready to rock in a vintage-inspired, strapless dress with gold detailing, worn with gold-heeled stilettos and playful dice-shaped purse.

ModCloth Design A Scarf Print Contest

ModCloth is launching its second Make the Cut Contest of the year! Not familiar with Make the Cut? It’s a fashion design contest, and in this edition, they’re giving contestants a template on which to create a print pattern for a scarf. The talented winner will have their design produced by and sold on ModCloth, plus they’ll receive a $500 prize! But first, the top 10 submissions will be hosted on the Be the Buyer page, where the community will vote for their faves. Design submissions will be accepted now until Friday, 5/30, and the voting begins on Monday, 6/9. Official contest rules can be found here.

Look of the Day: Shopping Day

One of my favorite things is to go shopping. Even if it’s just window shopping, I love making little wish lists of future outfit possibilities. And why not get dressed up for it? I see way too many people frumping around in sweatpants these days. This is Los Angeles, the city is crawling with celebrities and powerful people, you never know who you’re going to run into – plus, it gives me more to look at!

For this day, I put on a bright yellow, vintage, shift dress and matched the red trim with my shiny, red, t-strap shoes. I’ve had these shoes since my teens and I still love them! The red bag, featuring a pinup postcard, was custom-made by some creative gal who was vending at a hot rod show I went to years ago. There isn’t a tag inside. I wish I could find her so I could buy more, it’s one of my favorites! The drop earrings I picked up at a vintage store. Look of the Day: Vintage Spring Floral Print

It’s officially springtime and that means floral prints! For this Look of the Day, I pulled out one of my favorite vintage dresses. I love it for the unusual sides-wept neckline with delicate pleating. I paired it with some gold sandals. a pair of floral drop earrings I picked up on a trip to Paris, and a handbag I brought back from a visit to my parent’s house.

This bright yellow, vintage, basket-weave purse is one of my treasured possessions. My mom kept it in perfect condition and it makes me think of her and her fabulous sense of style whenever I carry it.

Get the Look: 70s Disco Fashion

Our partying ‘70s throw-back guest blogger Disco K. is the subject of this week’s Get the Look with her authentic ‘70s fashions of disco clubbin’ evening wear. While she’s no stranger to partying until the sun comes up and wearing her nighttime outfit during the day, we highly recommend it for a night of dancing.

The look has recently been rediscovered after being featured in the film, “American Hustle.” To get the look, check vintage stores and eBay for items from the 1970s. Dresses should be slinky and body-hugging with halter top or spaghetti strap detailing or the classic wrap-dress silhouette. Jewelry consists of long, drop charm necklaces, dangle hoop earrings and metal bangles. Throw on a fur stole, some platform heels, and a clutch to carry your compact, cigarettes and enough cash for a cocktail and cab ride home.

Disco K’s look was inspired by the personal style of Jerry Hall and Farrah Fawcett at Studio 54 and put together entirely from vintage items. Check out her eBay HAUL video! Find your own ‘70s treasures on eBay using the links below*:

Get ready for Viva Las Vegas

Viva Las Vegas, the biggest 4-day rockabilly concert party of the year is coming up in just a couple of weeks. It’s time to get your rockabilly on and have a rip roaring Easter weekend. I had a blast last year seeing Little Richard perform. Check out my report.

And the best part is the fashions! People come from around the world and bust out their best looks for this weekend. Last year I saw lots of colored retro hairdos in fun colors of purple, pink and blue, some fabulous dresses, and of course shoes to die for.
